Spam is the often-used negative slang term that refers to unsolicited email. People who receive spam do not like it for obvious reasons, the main reason being that it typically offers something that is no interest to the recipients. So, try do not "spam" your list. Unsolicited email runs the risk of damaging your company's reputation, not to mention the very real possibilities of flames, public blacklisting, hack attacks, and even having your Internet services revoked.
One of the theories behind permission marketing is that, presumably, a user that has given permission to receive promotions is a better, more loyal and more profitable customer overall.
If you use a rented or purchased list, give recipients various clear ways to remove themselves from your list, called opt-out, either by replying to the email with the subject "remove" or by providing a link to a page where the user may click on an option to be removed. |
