One of the most obvious reason (or absurd) most website fail to achieve their online goals is: Most website planners seem to forget that the visitors to a site are human being as well. Before you decide what types of information should be included, you should first understand or identify your target audience.

  • Make a list of reasons they need or want what you offer. What types of information benefits them? How would they make a buying decision of product or service?
  • Make a list of their demographics. What is their income range? What age group? What size of family? Where do they live? In other words, do your best to make your audience real to you. This is very important so that your designer and editor can reflect the style, tone and information that will appear to them.

The most common mistakes that businesses make with their website are:

  • Assuming that web users will find their site on their own
  • Not defining clear objectives for their site
  • Not providing a clear message or direction for visitors
  • Not budgeting an amount for promoting the site
  • Not providing sufficient opportunity for visitors to interact with your company
