There are a number of different reasons why I choose to create my own website whenever I need one, as there is simply too much that can go wrong when I trust someone else to do it.
Even though professional web designers are good at what they do, many are lacking in certain areas, which has made it necessary for many people to learn how to do things themselves. In addition, doing it yourself will save you a bunch of money, which is really what matters in the end. As long as you take the time to learn how to do things the right way, you can avoid many of the problems that many individuals run into when they hire a web designer.
The first reason why I always create my own website is that many web designers are not particularly concerned with customer satisfaction. The reason behind this is that these designers are paid per site and, as a result, they want to get through many of them in a short period of time to maximize their incomes. While they cannot be faulted for this, since we all want to make as much money as possible, it does lead to some major quality problems in certain situations.
Another issue is that website owners want everything for a little cost as possible. This leads to a great deal of competition within the website design industry, as all of the designers are attempting to undercut their competition's prices. This makes it impossible for a good designer to put in as much time and effort as is needed, since he or she needs to make ends meet as well.
In the end, I create my own website because I know what the end payoff will be if I take the time to do it the right way. Another issue that led to me learning to create my own website was the lack of communication between web designers and their customers. This is likely another scenario where the web designer is attempting to get through as many website as possible per day in order to offset the low prices that they are forced to charge, but customers do deserve to have their needs listened to.
If a person is having his or her website designed for a business, that person deserves to have exactly what he or she is looking for, since it must match up with the owner's vision. If a website designer does not have the ability to follow a plan that has been developed by the owner, the chances that a website owner will be satisfied are definitely very low. In the end, I usually create my own website because I know exactly what I want to site to look like and I feel as though I have a better chance at creating it than anyone else does.
Finally, another reason why I usually create my own website is because so many ideas can be lost in translation and having to constantly redo things is very tiring. When working with a web designer, there will usually be a number of ideas that are thrown back and forth in a brainstorming session. While this should be a situation where the customer's preferences will take priority, this is not always the case.
Many web designers have their own reasons for taking a project and will want to use certain styles of design that the owner is not comfortable with using. Being able to clarify what the customer wants and make sure that things are going on the right track is crucial, but this is another situation where a rushed job is very common.
For these reasons, I now create my own website and as I become more experienced, I am finding this to be an excellent choice.
Web designers are probably not paid enough for what they do and this leads to unsatisfied customers because of rushed jobs. With that being said, website owners do not want to spend thousands of dollars to have a simple site created, especially when they can do it themselves.
There are now many different tools out there that will aid a new website owner in his or her quest to develop the perfect website to meet his or her needs, which makes this a very exciting time for everyone on the web.
