Internet Marketing Tips - Knowing When to Say No to the Sale
By Steven Wagenheim

I know Internet marketing is all about making sales, but there are times when we need to say no to the sale. What do I mean? There are some prospects who are just not worth the trouble that they're going to cause, for starters. And then of course there are the serial refunders. This article is going to cover a few areas where you just might be better off if you didn't make the sale. Trust me, I am speaking from very painful experience.

One day I was checking my Clickbank account. Actually, as a merchant, I get notifications whenever somebody buys something. Well, one day, I saw a sale come in from some guy. No names. A few minutes later, I saw another sale come in for another one of my products from the same guy. By the end of the day, I had four sales from this same person. I thought to myself, "Wow, this guy must really love my stuff." Well, about a day later, all four sales were refunded. Obviously, this is your typical serial refunder. Now, the good news is, when somebody does this, Clickbank automatically bans them from making any other purchases through their system. However, if you are using your own private merchant account, you might want to block this person's IP address on your own so he can't do this to you again.

But what about the legitimate customer? Certainly you want to always make a sale to that person, right? Well, not always. See, there are some customers who expect to purchase a $7 ebook and get 12 months of mentoring and customer support to go along with it, taking up hundreds of hours of your time. This is where, in my opinion, you have to draw the line. What if you had 100 customers who all bought that $7 ebook who all wanted countless hours of your time? You'd never get any work done. So in the case of somebody who wants more support than I feel is warranted based on the cost of the product, I will issue a refund. My time is valuable and yours should be as well. If it's a high end product, that's one thing. But a $7 ebook? You have to draw the line someplace.

Naturally, you will have to decide on your own when to say no to the sale. What you read above is just my personal opinion and not written in stone.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim
