Email marketing is still the best way to sell to people because of its more intimate nature and the loyalty of those on your list. But you have to keep them on that list. RSS may be good for keeping them up to date but emails provide more detailed information and people are more likely to respond. This is the key to a good list because you don't want a big list of non-buyers or who are only wanting free products.
1 Give them what they want. Your list will not want your emails if you do not give them what they want. They need to be waiting with bated breath for what you have to offer in your next issue. Find out what they want to know about or help with by asking them in a Broadcast email or set up a survey in an email or online. This could repeated regularly. When you respond to what they ask for they'll be even more glad to hear from you.
2 Solve problems. There are many problems people have in internet marketing, from how to FTP to how to write an article to creating a website. Subscribers have individual problems as well as general ones. When you respond to an individual problem, however, you could well let others realise that they didn't know enough about the topic either. Sometimes, people don't know exactly what problems they're having until they see it in front of them.
3 Give value. Your material will usually either show or tell subscribers how to do something or it will explain something to them about internet marketing. The contents need to be useful to them and written in an interesting and clear way. In this way you're actually providing an on-going service to your list.
